James Ennes is a retired naval officer who wrote the book, "Assault on the Liberty," (Random House, 1980; Ballantine Books 1986; Reintree Press 2004) about the unprovoked attack by Israel on USS Liberty (AGTR-5) during the Six Day War in June, 1967. The attack killed 34 Americans and wounded 174. While official reports maintain it was an accident, some politicians and crew members including Ennes state the attack was deliberate. See http://www.ussliberty.org/supporters.htm. He was an officer on the ship when it was attacked.
