James Brydges, 3rd Duke of Chandos PC (27 December 173129 September 1789) was the only son of Henry Brydges, 2nd Duke of Chandos and Lady Mary Bruce, succeeding to the title upon the death of his father on 28 November 1771. He was styled Marquess of Carnarvon from 1744 to 1771. He was the Member of Parliament for Winchester from 1754 to 1761 and for Radnorshire between 1761 and 1768.[1]

[edit] Marriages and children

Brydges' first marriage was to Margaret Nicol (1736–1768), daughter of John Nicol, on 22 March 1753. Following the death of his first wife he married Anne Eliza Gamon, daughter of Richard Gamon on 21 June 1777. His second marriage produced the only child to survive to adulthood—Lady Anne Elizabeth Brydges[1], who married Richard Temple-Grenville.
