James Brindley Science College formally James Brindley High School, is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school located at the top most point of St Michaels Road in Chell, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Most students are from the surrounding areas such as Chell Heath, Fegg Heys, Pitts Hill and Packmoor. The Head Teacher is C S Rigby. The school achieved science specialist status in September 2006, it also holds the Artsmark Silver award which it gained in 2005.
The school however is in a state of disrepair as it was built in the late 1950's and has large corridors to accommodate the fact that the school could be turned into a hospital if needs must due to the former nuclear threat in the Cold War[citation needed].
The school has been saved by its staff and governing body from certain closure as it was announced in early 2008 that the school would be one of 5 or so schools in the area to be rebuilt and kept by the city council.[citation needed]
