James A. Murphy III

James A. Murphy III, a Republican (also endorsed by the Independence and Conservative parties), is the elected District Attorney for Saratoga County, New York. Murphy is also an Adjunct Professor at the Albany Law School, President of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York, and Co-Chair of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, New York.

Murphy received his Juris Doctor from the University College London Law Faculty and Pace University School of Law in 1986. He earned his bachelors degree from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1983.

Murphy is the grandson of the late former Congressman Carleton J. King and the son of former Mayor James A. Murphy, Jr. of Saratoga Springs, New York. Murphy was first elected district attorney in 1997 and was re-elected in 2001 and 2005.
