[edit] City name
Why is Pietarsaari, a Finnish town, up here with its Swedish name? Is the town known to English-speaking world as Jakobstad, or is it because the majority of the townspeople are Swedish-speaking? If there is no such reason, I think it should be titled with its proper Finnish name. I'll make the change if nobody gives a reason. RandomMonitor 09:17, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- The majority of the population of the city speaks Swedish, and it is - I think - a Wikipedia policy to name the cities and towns of Finland in the majority language. Thus Helsinki is Helsinki and not Helsingfors, Mariehamn is Mariehamn and not Maarianhamina. Andelarion 10:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
