Jake Goldenflame (born 1937) is a convicted sex offender and author of Overcoming Sexual Terrorism.
He was charged almost a quarter of a century ago with incest involving his daughter, and has also publicly admitted to having sex with teenage boys prior to that time. He was sent to prison in 1986, and served five years.
After the passage of Megan's Law, Goldenflame began publicly supporting the measure in his belief that public knowledge of their conviction helps former offenders to keep from re-offending. While imprisoned, he sought help from both mental health and prison chaplain staff and has written on how he has since been able to avoid re-offending. He also runs the website californiaregistrants.net, as a public advocate in favor of sex offender recovery, giving those required to register tips on how to comply with California registration laws and a bulletin board to voice their views as a member of the registered community.
As one of the few listed registrants publicly supporting registration, Goldenflame has spoken before an international forgiveness conference (Findhorn Foundation, United Kingdom 1999), California therapists and community corrections personnel (Bay Area Chapter of CCOSO, 2002), the Chicago chapter of the Federal Bar Association (2005), staff of the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary (2006) and written for the defense bar (FORUM, published by Calif. Attys for Criminal Justice) as well as spoken in correctional institutions (Wisconsin, Minnesota, 2005 and 2006). He is regularly featured by the media, having appeared on Oprah as well as all major(television and radio) networks in the United States as well as in Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Japan and has been profiled in People Magazine, USA Today and other mass media.
He received a law degree from People's College of Law in Los Angeles in 1985 and a Master's Degree in American Studies from the University of Southern California in 1972.
