Brighter Business Limited is a provider of direct insurance to the UK small business market. It is based in Uxbridge to the west of London, United Kingdom. Brighter Business policies are underwritten at Lloyd’s of London. The company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Brighter Business was registered as an EU trademark on 26th February 2007 under reference number 005099651.

Brighter Business, the brainchild of the Robert Bartlett the current Chief Executive Officer, was incorporated in 29th April 2005 as Barfish Limited and changed its name to Brighter Business on 17th July 2006.
The company’s call centre opened for business on 14th August 2006 and a basic website went live at the same date. The first policy was sold on 17th August 2006 for a shop in East Sussex.
In April 2007 Brighter Business submitted evidence to the European Commission - Business Insurance Sector Inquiry highlighting issues of transparency within the UK SME insurance market.
Online quote and buy functionality was added to the website on 25th July 2007 with the launch of an e-commerce area. The e-commerce site utilises elements of Web 2.0 with the incorporation of Ajax technology into the online proposal forms.
