FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
California author announces publication of new anthology
November 19, 2005 - Ventura, California
Woman In Black, by John Darling, is an anthology of short stories and novellas written around three themes: Love, Heroism, and Adventure. A one-act play about God is included in the collection.
Far from being a dead art form, as some have contended, Mr. Darling believes that the short story is the ideal form of fiction considering the busy times we live in since most stories in this format can be read and enjoyed in one sitting.
Mr. Darling has issued the following statement about his new book:
“Woman In Black is a highly eclectic collection that is written in a variety of genres even though several stories share the same theme. In my book you will find heart warming juvenile fiction in the heroic and uplifting tale Jennifer Rising, which is a story about a dog that saves her family from perishing in a disaster.
However, you will also find the very original, complex, and, perhaps, controversial science fiction novella Woman In Black which I have chosen to be the signature story for this collection. This story follows the adventures of Debra, a beautiful and deadly young woman, who represents the “better half” of the Men In Black; those fabled men in dark suits whose appearances have been chronicled since the 1950’s when America’s fascination with UFO’s turned into a cultural phenomenon.
Woman In Black follows Debra as she travels back in time to deal with a particularly pesky alien we all know historically by the name of Jack the Ripper. Who Jack really is and how she has to deal with him is the crux of the story.”
Given the variety of stories offered in his book, the author feels that there should be something for everyone, from every walk of life, in the collection.
The new book, published by Xlibris Press, a strategic partner of Random House, is available through most major Internet bookstores including Amazon Books (www.amazon.com), Barnes and Noble (www.barnesandnoble.com). It is also available directly from the publisher at (http://www2.xlibris.com/Bookstore/index.asp).
