Jack Geoghegan

John Lance Geoghegan, was born on November 10, 1941, in Pelham, NY. He served in the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry in the Ia Drang Valley, Vietnam. There he was killed in action on November 15, 1965, while defending a wounded soldier. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Air Medal.

Jack Geoghegan was the first and only son of John J. and Camille D. Geoghegan. He married Barbara Weathers Geoghegan on June 13, 1964. Togother the had a daughter, Camille Ann Geoghegan, who was born on June 8, 1965.

[edit] Military Carrer

Geoghegan attended the Pennsylvania Military College and upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. In 1964, he went to Africa to take part in a relief program. Post Africa, he received Infantry Officers Basic Course. Following that, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry. On August 18, he was deployed to Vietnam. He was killed in action while tending to wounded and fellow soldier, Willie Godboldt. Both were killed.
