JackBe was founded by Luis and Jacob Derechin in 2001 to create a new generation of Ajax-based software tools to improve the functionality and performance of Web applications. In 2005, JackBe evolved its product base to be centered around mashup server software that provides ad-hoc, light-weight integration of disparate data for enterprises. Portals, other AJAX frameworks, and most other enterprise applications can consume mashups built and managed with JackBe's enterprise mashup software.

JackBe’s Enterprise Mashup Platform, Presto, combines SOA and Ajax into solutions for enterprise mashups and rich enterprise applications that deliver any data from any application to any user, while providing enterprise-grade security and governance features. Presto includes functionality for:

  • server-based service creation and mashing from disparate sources including SQL/DBMS, EJB/POJO, RSS/ATOM, and WSDL;
  • user-oriented mashup consumption, customization, and sharing;
  • developer-centric application creation that incorporates mashups.

JackBe's mashup software can be evaluated and can be commercially licensed with a maintenance and support plan.
