J.J. Thiel was the first head football coach for Southwestern College Moundbuilders in Winfield, Kansas. He coached for two years and posted an overall record of 9 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie. This ranks him as the 9th most successful coach in Southwestern's history (as of 2007).[1]
