James Anthony "J. A." Happ (born October 19, 1982 in Spring Valley, Illinois) is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He is a six-foot-six southpaw. On June 30, 2007, he had his contract purchased from the Triple-A Ottawa Lynx and was the starting pitcher on that same day for the Phillies against the New York Mets. It was his Major League debut. In Triple-A Ottawa, Happ was 1-2 with a 4.02 ERA through June 29, 2007.[1]
