Jörg Stiel

Jörg Stiel (born March 3, 1968 in Baden) is a retired Swiss football goalkeeper.
He started his career with Swiss side FC Wettingen and later also played for FC St. Gallen and FC Zürich in his native country. He also spent a season with Mexican side Toros Neza in 1993-1994. In 2001, he was signed by German Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach and was their first-choice goalkeeper in the following three seasons, making a total of 89 league appearances for the club.
He won 21 international caps for Switzerland and was their first-choice goalkeeper at the Euro 2004, appearing in all of the team's three matches at the tournament. He is most famous amongst English fans for conceding 3 goals against the England side in that competition, one of which deflected from the post onto the back of Stiel's head before entering the goal. The goal was officially credited to English striker Wayne Rooney. After the tournament, Stiel retired from playing.
In November 2006, he was signed by Austrian side SC Rheindorf Altach as their goalkeeping coach.
