Izvoarele is a small, medieval type commune in the mountains of Olt County in southern Romania.
A quiet, mostly self-sufficient town, it has slowly been developing, with things such as the recent paving of the main east/west road which was previously dirt highlighting this development. Modern architecture is seen in some of the more developed houses, while some are very, very old; which outlines the mixed population of rich and poor. It is surrounded by the beautifully wild, untamed country-side. The train line that passes by features a massive stone rail bridge directly south before the station.
