Itchiku Kubota

Itchiku Kubota is a textile artist who was born in 1917.
Kubota began working on textiles, and learning the art of dyeing at age 14. At the age of 20, he had his first encounter with the art of Tsujigahana. He decided to revive this tradition of the past and experimented with his own technique of painting and tyedyeing, and eventually mastering a unique form that has made him internationally known. In his 70s he worked on his Symphony of Light series of kimonos.
