[edit] Fair Use Rationale for Itanium
The use of this logo in the Itanium article in the English wikipedia is justified as follows: According to WP:LOGO a copyrighted and trademarked log may be used if the following criteria are met:
- The logo is accurate
- the logo is not excessivly detailed.
- The logo is current as of its date of inclusion. (May 2007 in this case.)
This logo meets these criteria. The logo is important for this article, not "mere decoration," because the article is about the history of the brand itself: the logo is the only logo used by the original Itanium and remains current in that context. The new Itanium logo (intorducte in 2007) was never used for the original Itanium, which ceased production in 2002.
This logo is copyrighted (c) by Intel, and it includes a trademark (Itanium (r)) by Intel. If Intel objects to the inclusion of this logo or trademark in wikipedia, then the logo should be immediately removed.
