It Grows On You is a short story written by author Stephen King and originally published in Marshroots, volume 3, no. 1, Fall 1973, later revised and published in August of 1982 in Whispers, and again revised for the 1993 short story collection Nightmares & Dreamscapes.
[edit] Plot summary
The story recounts some of the bizarre and inexplicable events that have taken place in a notorious house in the town of Castle Rock. As the incidents increase, the house has additional wings added, so the house literally takes on a life of its own, growing in what seems proportion to the awful things that continue to happen. There seem to be unsettling similarities to the house in the story, and the Marsten House from Salem's Lot and the titular houses from Black House and Rose Red. The story also serves somewhat as an epilogue to Needful Things.
