Talk:It's My Life (Bon Jovi song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I want to post the following:
Similarity to Summer of '69 Many listeners note a melodic and lyrical similarity to the Bryan Adams song Summer of '69. In "It's My Life", Bon Jovi sings a refrain of "It's my life, and its now or never/I ain't gonna live forever". The second part of that melody is nearly identical to a refrain in "Summer of '69", which Adams uses to sing "You told me it would last forever" and "I knew that it was now or never". Adams follows the second of those lines by singing "those were the best days of my life".
TheHYPO says that the above information is irrelevant to the page. I think thats just his opinion. He seems to think his opinion is all that matters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.129.207.220 (talk • contribs) 14:19, 31 May 2007
- The specific facts of this situation are as follows: user:T Fergusen (who I assume to be the above user) adds the above facts, and after I revert them (with explaination), emails me to discuss them (amongst calling me several angry things). I explain clearly: Wikipedia policies of Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Original Research note that, whether the above may be factually true, there is no citation there. In addition, since the only possible intended "message" the above text might have in my eyes is that Bon Jovi has plagerized the song (without actually saying that), it's either original research into plagerism, or just nonsense mentioning that two songs are similar, which is too trivial for wikipedia.
- I also made clear that the appropriate course of action is to discuss the situation on the article's talk page and get an opinion other than his and mine, to which I got angry response that he couldn't just stick it back in, and apparently has finally accepted (and is still making personal attacks at me. Charming). I leave it open to discussion. Discuss. As to anonymous IP/T Fergusen, feel free to explore Wikipedia:Requests for comment or Wikipedia:Third opinion as alternatives if noone chimes in.
