Istrobanka is a universal commercial bank based in Slovakia. It was established on September 1992.

Istrobanka's founding shareholder was Slovenská poisťovňa (Slovak Insurance Company). In 1993 Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, became another shareholder. Shareholder structure was extended in 1994 by the third shareholder, Austrian GiroCredit Bank AG.
With effect from March 2002, Austrian BAWAG became the principal shareholder of Istrobanka and holds 100% stake within the bank.
