The governments of Pakistan and Israel do not officially have relations with each other. In 2003, President Pervez Musharraf raised the issue of possible diplomatic relations with Israel,[1] and in 2005 the foreign ministers of the two countries held talks for the first time.[2] However, following the meeting Musharraf said Pakistan will not recognise the state of Israel until an independent Palestinian state is established,[3] - although, according to Musharraf, Pakistan will eventually recognise Israel.[4]
