Talk:Isobar (digital marketing agency)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, I've attempted to include a page about Isobar in Wikipedia, since there are pages for other agencies (eg: Saatchi & Saatchi, OMD) and so it seemed an odd omission.

I used the Saatchi & Saatchi model as a guideline for what was acceptable, so am not sure what bits of the Isobar entry are wrong? Or should the Saatchi & Saatchi one be deleted too? Lynetter 15:37, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

You need to demonstrate why this company is notable (see WP:N). To do this you must provide independent sources that demonstrate notability. Of the two possible sources you provided, the RECMA one is unavailable as yet and the Financial Times link is available only to FT subscribers. If Isobar Communications is truly notable as per WP:N it should be simple to find other accessible sources.
I agree that the Saatchi & Saatchi article needs more references but the company is well known enough (by the general public) for both its business, non-business and political actvities that it is unlikely to be deleted.
The OMD article at the moment reads like promotional material, as you point out and has been marked as such. Consequenty, I will propose its deletion.
I would point out that the existence of other inappropriate articles on Wikipedia is not grounds for inclusion of any other article. If such articles are found they can be tagged for improvement or suggested for deletion.
Hope this is helpful. CIreland 15:55, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot CIreland. I will look for other articles that are freely accessible, and for an alternative link to the Financial Times one that is open to the public. I didn't want to put too many in so I picked the most recent article and one of the earliest to give some history and that was all, but there are others so if that's the problem I can easily add. The problem with the RECMA report is that they sell it and so they don't make it available for free, even though it's the leading industry monitor (and quoted by others), but I will trawl their press release section to see if they've got anything even a snippet that I could link to. I'll work on it now.

Hi, I've added more external links to articles and also more history on the growth of the company in terms of the timing of acquisitions and progress in rankings and so forth. I could add more but wanted to check if this was going in the right direction before I spent any more time on it. Can you let me know? I've left in the FT article for the moment because it is the most recent and best in-depth overview of Isobar I've found, and you can get free access to it by signing up for the trial account. Yes, it's much improved. I've removed the speedy-deletion tag and replaced it with a tag that marks it as needing expansion. I also notified the editor who originally placed the tag that I have done so.
I also cleaned up the formatting of the article. --CIreland 23:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much CIreland for all your help. Using this as a guide to content style & formatting, I'll work on expanding it as I come across more useful information that is verifiable via free (& credible) online sources. (Lynetter 06:26, 13 April 2007 (UTC))
