Islampur is located at 25.0833° N 89.7917° E . It has 51671 units of house hold and total area 343.02 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Islampur has a population of 268352. Males constitute are 51.1% of the population, and females 48.9%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 124612. Islampur has an average literacy rate of 15.9% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
