The Nordic country Iceland is estimated to have between 800 and 1000 members by the Association of Muslims in Iceland.

The Association of Muslims in Iceland had 341 members in 2006. The Association itself estimates there are 800-1000 Muslims living in Iceland.[1]

Most of the nation's Muslims live in or near Reykjavík, but there is a small number of Kosovar Muslim refugees in Dalvík.[1]

The Association of Muslims in Iceland (Felag Muslima a Islandi) was founded in 1997. It is headed by Salmann Tamimi, a Palestinian immigrant.[2]

The community has had its own mosque since 2002.[1] The mosque offers daily and nightly prayers, which attracts a core group of 30 individuals. The mosque also offers weekly Friday prayers,

In 2000 the Muslim Association applied to build a mosque in Reykjavik.[1] However, the city has not approved the plans, saying they are competing.
