Isabel of Conches rode armed like a knight during a conflict in northern France during the late 1100s.
Orderic Vitalis described Isabel of Conches, daughter of Simon de Montfort, as as brave as “several Amazons and the legendary Camilla, who fought as ally of the Italian king Turnus in the Aeneid.”
