Irwin’s is Northern Ireland’s largest independent bakery and supplies a wide range of traditional Irish breads to supermarkets throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company as founded in 1912 in the County Armagh town of Portadown.
In 1963 Irwin's launched Nutty Krust, their distinctive brand of bread which has gone on to become one of Northern Ireland's favourite grocery products[citation needed]. In 2000 Irwin's became the first Irish bakery to produced white pan bread fortified with calcium and folic acid.
