Irth Worlds

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Irth World's is no more even the web site is gone www.irthworlds.com Irth World is an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) Open ended fantasy that started in 2004. The game was founded by Magic Hat Software [1] MHS development team and has acquired certain assets from the now canceled WISH MMORPG. Indeed, the MHS team has bought many animations from WISH after they shut down.

Before the launch, Magic Hat Software promoted the game by projecting a public image of the company as very player-responsive. During a very rough Beta phase, they made promises that they will never let down their fan base by releasing a "half-arsed" product. The loyal Beta-testers embraced this promise and was willing to forgive the very buggy Beta version of this game. But Magic Hat Software soon broke that promise by releasing the game in a very unfinished and buggy state and tried to charge money for it. The fans of this game felt very betrayed and were unwilling to pay for an unfinished game. Only a few remained to play the game. After two years of dwindling number of players, Magic Hat Software decided that they could not expect to charge money for a game that many consider an incomplete project.

From the Irth player guide

Irth Online, Irth Worlds[2]

is a massive multi-player online role playing game,
placing you in a fantasy universe filled with magical beings, mighty warriors and mystical creatures.

Irth is at a time of great peril.

The once mighty kingdom has been separated by the dreadful plague
and produced three independent warring nations the learned Mezzos of the southwest,

the proud Arcadians of the north and the dreadful Morbian of the southeast.

Each of these nations are born into hatred for the other two and raised to act on that hatred. Killing, pillaging and ultimately attempting to conquer each other.

From these three a fourth was born of immigrants, choosing instead to live for money and peace than cruelty and war.

Avarians settled into the center of the three and began trading with the warring civilizations. They were allowed their independence by the other three, for they claimed to hold the secret to the dreadful plague and the others see a use in having an unbiased place of trade.

The Morbs, Mezzos and Arcadians are all pvp civs,
while the Avarians are non-pvp.

Interaction between the two is paramount to survival.

The pvp civs rely on the non-pvp civ for jobs and trades,
while the non-pvp relies on the pvp for guards, gathering and trades.

****************************************************** UPDATE: Irth Worlds has been offline for over 2 months without nary a word from the overseer, Alan Chipura - AKA Damian. Most (if not all) of the people who signed up for the "Free-to-play" offer have left and even the hardcore supporters of the game have acknowledged that the reputation of the game and designers is utterly and irrevokably ruined by the total lack of communication with the people who sgned up to play. No fixes were made to bugs, although repeated promises led players to believe that said fixes were coming. In fact, numerous people who have left the game have said that Irth (in any incarnation) has left such a bitter taste in their mouths that they would even shun it even if the game were bought by a well-financed and organized company.
