This page has been created from elements of golf club (equipment), based on a suggestion that that article was too long. The process of moving this information is not complete, and this page will require cleanup before it meets WP's standards. The article needs references and footnotes, as well as more detail on the development of modern cavity-backed irons. Also, in the process we have lost images that needed to remain on the source page that we will need to find replacements for. Images highlighting specific points made in the text are welcome, in particular images comparing a cavity back iron with a muscle back, and highlighting the "bounce" of sand wedges.
