This image was created and is now in the public domain in the United Kingdom, because its term of copyright has expired. According to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48), a reformation of the Copyright Act 1956 (c. 74), images fall into public domain 50 years from the death of the author. If author is unknown it falls into the public domain 50 years after it was created.[1]

This image is now in the public domain because its term of copyright has expired in Ireland. According to section 24 of the Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000, all literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works enter the public domain after seventy years counted from the beginning of the following calendar year (ie. as of 2008, prior to 1938-01-01) after either the death of the author, or, if the author is unknown or pseudonymous, the date of publication.

This image is in the public domain in the United States because it was first published outside the United States prior to January 1, 1923. Other jurisdictions have other rules, and this image might not be in the public domain outside the United States and should not be transferred to Wikimedia Commons unless it can be verified to be in the public domain in its country of first publication. Also note that this image may not be in the public domain in the 9th Circuit if it was published after July 1, 1909.
