The Iranian missile boat Paykan (Persian: پيکان) is an Iranian-made Sina class missile boat. The sina class is nearly identical to the Kaman class and that's why the Paykan and the Joshan are both often referred to the Kaman class (French Combattante II type).
Since September 29, 2003 the ship has been active in the Caspian sea waters to protect Iran's interests. It is Irans first self-made missile boat and it is equipped with 4 or 2 C802 SSM, 1 76 mm OTO DP and 1 40 mm AA.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that the manufacture of the 'Peykan' missile boat and the Iranian destroyer Jamaran were among the greatest achievements of the Iranian Navy and said that their production set a part of Iran's defensive doctrine which is based on deterrence.[1]
The Paykan was built in memory of the originall Paykan, that was sunk three Iraqi Navy Osa II boats in 1980 during Operation Morvarid[2], it also has the same seriall number as the originall one.
