iRam is a new application of an old technology from Gigabyte Technology. It basically involves a PCI card with slots for up to 4GB of DDR DRAM which is used like a normal disk drive. Their recommended application of this drive is to install an operating system on it, in order to increase booting speed. They claim an increase in up to 60-times the speed and can boot Windows XP in 5 seconds.
