What is the address of the official homepage for the ipfw project? Or is it not separate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.193.152.215 (talk) 15:07, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Adrian: The wiki page says: It can either be used as a loadable kernel module or incorporated into the kernel; use as a loadable kernel module where possible is highly recommended. Where did the author get this information from? It's different from what I've read. Compiling it statically into the kernel offers several capabilities that are not present otherwise, like logging. The "ipfw HOW-TO" that this very page links to clearly states: With the additional options for ipfirewall(4) that are available for enabling statically in the kernel, one soon realizes this is the better method for enabling ipfirewall(4) Maybe there's some crucial detail I'm missing, so I haven't edited the page, but can anyone explain *why* it is preferable to load it as a kld module?
Chris: Perhaps some info. whether the firewall is stateful or not and how it compares to PF and IPF. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.94.167.145 (talk) 09:15, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
