Iota-2 Scorpii is a white A-type supergiant with an apparent magnitude of +4.78. It is approximately 3700 light years from Earth. At a separation of 32.6 arcseconds from the supergiant is an 11th magnitude neighbour. If this is truly a companion, it lies at least 37 000 AU, or more than half a light year, from the primary.
