Ioan Teodor Callimachi

Ioan Teodor Callimachi (1690—1780) was the oldest son of Teodor Calmăşul. Born Calmăşul he later changed the family name to Callimachi. He pursued his studies at Lvov and served in the administrations of Ioan Mavrocordat and of Grigore II Ghica.

He married Raliţa Chrisoscoleo, by whom he had one daughter, Sevastiţa, who married Mihai Suţu.

Later he served as Grand Dragoman at the Ottoman Porte in Istanbul, where over the course of his sixteen years of service he was recognized for his diplomatic ability. In 1758 he was rewarded with the position of Prince of Moldavia which he detained until 1761.
