Inyan Ceyaka Otonwe or Little Rapids is the site of a nineteenth century village of Dakotah people known as Wahpeton or People of Leaves. The site is located near the east bank of the Minnesota River about four miles north of Jordan, Minnesota. An archaeological dig there revealed an iron axe, an iron tomahawk, a sandstone arrow smoother, and a fish spear. Twenty nine effigy mounds are located just south of the village site, although these pre-date the artifacts by several centuries. The village was the winter home of about 325 people prior to the Dakota War of 1862.[2][3]
