No it wouldn't be a good idea as civil engineers discuss the section as Intelligent buildings —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.72.70.113 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Differences between Building Automation and Intelligent Buildings

I am from the Building Automation Industry. Building Automation Industry is mainly associated with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning.) Components of Intelligent building can also include fire, security, access controls etc. I say leave both in their place.

I think Home automation, room automation, and domotics should be merged into one article, but Intelligent building should remain a separate article for the reasons stated above. Takeitupalevel 03:35, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Intelligent Buildings are quite different from Building Automation, Home Automation, and the like. It is also different from Building Intelligence, which is knowledge about the buildings, as described by the Industry Foundation Classes or the currently very active (in the US) National Building Information Standards (NBIMS) derived from and allied with the IFCs. It may be the case that Intelligent Buildings are quite different from Building Automation, but the article does not state this. The article needs to explicitly state the difference between them. --Eptin 03:37, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
