[edit] Miscellanea
I-185 is named the Chet Atkins Parkway for its entire length. It is also known as the unsigned State Route 411.
The rural portions of I-185 (north of Exit 10) were equipped with call boxes as part of a pilot program. It is currently the only stretch of interstate highway in Georgia to be so equipped.[3]
In 2006 business and government officials began a campaign to have the interstate extended to Monticello, Florida, and connect with Interstate 10. [1] The proposed route would run parallel Georgia State Route 520 (known as Corridor Z) to Albany, and then parallel to U.S. Route 19. [2]
In 2007, repaving began for the first time since the interstate was opened to traffic.[citation needed]
