International Institute of Risk and Safety Management

International Institute of Risk and Safety Management is a UK-based body for safety practitioners. It was established in 1975 and has the status of a company limited by guarantee and is registered with the Charity Commission. It has over 7800 members in over 60 countries[1]. It publishes a members' newsletter and organizes meetings.

  • Fellow (FIIRSM) By application after 5 years at Member level
  • Member (MIIRSM) Requires a recognised diploma or equivalent qualification and relevant experience as a safety practitioner
  • Associate (AIIRSM) Requires a recognised certificate or equivalent qualification and relevant experience as a safety practitioner
  • Student For those working towards the qualifications for Associate or Member
  • Affiliate For those involved in accident prevention and occupational health and safety but who do not qualify for a designated grade of membership, or are in a related discipline.
