International Festival of Animated Objects

The International Festival of Animated Objects is a biennial ten-day festival sponsored by the non-profit group CAOS - Calgary Animated Objects Society that promotes various arts that are more than just puppetry. Their web site states, "The IFAO features international calibre local, national, and international artists working in the broader realm of animated objects. Past programming has included BC spectacle artists Three on the Tree, Tsimphisan carver Victor Reece, Cirque du Soliel artist Mooky Cornish, Phillip Huber (of "Being John Malkovich" marionette fame), Frank Meschkuleit ("Bride of Chucky", "The Left Hand of Frank"), and master puppeteer Ronnie Burkett, amongst others." Throughout the ten-day festival, participants can take part in a myriad of events that include performances, workshops, lectures, screenings, exhibitions, outreach activities, and more.
