There are nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, namely Dhaka Board, Rajshahi Board, Comilla Board, Jessore Board, Chittagong Board, Barisal Board, Sylhet Board, Madrasah Board and Technical Board in Bangladesh. All of these boards are responsible for conducting the public examinations such as Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) and Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C), Alim and Dakhil level public examinations. In 1985 Dakhil level was given the standard of education of S.S.C. and in 1987 Alim level was given the standard of education of H.S.C for massive reformation of entire education system. These Boards are also responsible for the recognisation of the private sector educational institute.
