Is it just me or does anyone else think Fry and Bender's scenes in the insane asylum were reminiscent of similar scenes in the film 12 Monkeys? It's probably not worth mentioning unless you can cite a reliable source for the info. Current opinion on wikipedia is that sections such as the cultural references section in this article are merely unsourced trivia and that they are therefore not encyclopedic (see WP:AVTRIV). I'm actually proposing removing anything that is unsourced from this article along with other episode articles (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Futurama#A new_proposal for episode articles). Don't let this stop you from improving the article though, if you can find a source discussing this relationship I would love to see it added to the article. Stardust8212 14:18, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

In this episode Bender says "Je suis Napoléon!" despite the fact that the French language was previously stated as being an "unintelligible dead language" in the episode "A Clone of My Own".

It seems implies that Bender speaking a few phrases in French("Je suis Napoléon! no seriously I'm not", "bonjour y'all") somehow contradicts French being a dead and unintelligible language. Not to mention that none of the characters responded to what he said in French or what he remarked about it, and continued the conversation as if he hadn't said it. Is it possible this is a joke for dedicated fans, or perhaps just a joke for themselves?Is there DVD commentary for this episode, and does it mention these instances?

I know a few phrases in Latin, but Latin in unintelligible to me. If all records of the Latin language where Destroyed, I'm sure more people would eventually say the phrase "carpe diem" and it's meaning would live on, even if Latin the language or it's general understanding didn't. In fact it's possible that by 3001 that those words are even part of the English language, it's happened before.

Would just adding "however" and summarizing my arguments be okay? And is there a term for when a language absorbs words or phrases from another? Tindytim (talk) 04:19, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

That's a lot of questions.

• Does it contradict the dead language plot line: yes
• Is it possibly a joke for fans: maybe
• Is there DVD commentary for this episode: yes
• Is this mentioned in the DVD commentary: I don't know
• Would summarizing these arguments be OK: No, it would be original research which is against Wikipedia policy see WP:NOR. Also the guideline on episode articles WP:EPISODE suggests that continuity errors, which is what this would be, are unencyclopedic unless you can show significant discussion of the issue in reliable sources to demonstrate it is notable.
