From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Institute for Language and Cultural Studies or ILCS, is part of the Royal University of Bhutan. Presently ILCS is located at Semtokha near Thimphu. It is slated to expand to 500+ students and move to Taktsi in Trongsa dzongkhag. A primary task of ILCS is to preserve and promote Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan.

ILCS was originally founded in 1961 as a monastic school at Semthoka Dzong. It has now become a full-fledged degree-awarding institution specializing in education and research in Bhutanese language and culture.
