9 o'clock in the morning of September 2, 1945, the Japanese representatives signed the official Instrument of Surrender on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay. On September 7, the surrender document was presented to President Truman at White House. After the exhibition, the document was formally received (accessioned) into the holdings of the National Archives on October 1, 1945.
