Broken Hearted Dragonflies: Insect Electronica from Southeast Asia is an album of unprocessed field recordings of insects, recorded in Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. The title of the album is derived from a Burmese legend about the Broken Hearted Dragonfly. These dragonflies, native to Burma, screech loudly to attract a mate. If unsuccessful, the dragonfly will eventually scream so loud that its chest explodes. The Burmese say that this as a result of a broken heart.
