Talk:Inoki Genome Federation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
nwawrestling.com the offical site of the NWA clearly states IWGP Heavyweight Champion to be Yuji Nagata and has no mention what so ever of kurt angle or this new inoki federation, there for the NWA is not recognizing that belt at all. changing article to match. since this is a new title all together and not a NWA title affiliate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.161.210.149 (talk • contribs)
- We know that Nagata is the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Inoki though is a member of the NWA, thus his leave from New Japan and his start of IGF makes IGF officially the new NWA Japan, and it says that IGF is sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance right on the front page of their site. The IGF/IWGP Third Belt title holder is Kurt Angle, making him NWA Japan Champion. New Japan is no longer apart of the NWA. TonyFreakinAlmeida 15:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
nwawrestling.com click on roll call of champions, new japan iwgp is clearly listed as a nwa territory and it states Nagata as champion, as for the IGF there is no mention of the belt or the territory in that list as of yet, unless there just super slow in changing there website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.161.210.149 (talk • contribs)
- IGF may be sanctioned by the NWA, but I don't see any evidence that it replaced IWGP. The Roll call of champions page (which was just updated on July 8th when the new NWA World Tag Team Champions were crowned) still lists IWGP. Lrrr IV 01:05, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Simple answer for ya, they haven't updated it yet. TonyFreakinAlmeida 14:43, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Will the IWGP Third Title Have World Title Status?
I mean it is a main belt for a company, and Angle is about to defend it outside of its country. Doesnt that make it a WORLD title?
- Of course it can and with Angle defending it in TNA in the US next month, it will be a somewhat, world title. World status from PWI, though? No it won't, I base that off the fact they've never recognized one from outside the US and the fact that they only recognize 3 at a time, traditionally. You also have to look at it like this, with IGF now being the NWA Japan promotional territory, that means that in NWA terms, it can't be a world title because every territory is meant to serve as a lower tier to the NWA Board's World Heavyweight Championship and Tag Team Championships and can only have regional status. But in real world terms, yes it will be a world title, but I don't think it matters. TonyFreakinAlmeida 17:04, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
O That sucks then i would have loved to give Angle another Reign but we will see maybe but ya i doubt PWI will give it to it.--Tboneangle123 15:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

- I personally don't follow PWI like gospel. This belt is a World Title, regardless. MC511 06:47, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- What if the promotion called the title as the IGF World Heavyweight Championship? Johnluisocasio (talk) 15:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Angle stripped?
I've heard rumors that Angle has been stripped of the IWGP title for not defending it in Japan the day before No Surrender. He didn't show up with the title on iMPACT! either. Maybe someone can confirm this. MC511 19:02, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- No he wasn't stripped of the title. He defended it on Global iMPACT aginst Yugi Nagata. Also if you notice they dont show Tomko's IWGP Tag Team Championship as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.141.145.206 (talk) 02:53, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Origin of "IWGP Third Belt Championship"
The article states that the Inoki Genome Federation and TNA Wrestling recognize this title as the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, but gives no indication of where the name IWGP Third Belt Championship originated. Is it just a name frequently used for the title within the wrestling community? Did PWI designate the title with this new name (given, I don't treat PWI as the end-all of wrestling authorities, but apparently some do)? This information would be very helpful to the article. - From what I read, this is how they referred to the title on the show where Angle faced Lesnar for it. They did this as Inoki didn't want to use the full title of IWGP Heavyweight Title. The belt was the 3rd generation belt that represented the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, so that's where the Third Belt comes from. TonyFreakinAlmeida 18:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
