The parameters of this infobox are as follows:

The field ipa-number is for the IPA number, as listed in Appendix 2 of the Handbook of the International Phonetic Association (ISBN 0521637511). The field ipa is for the decimal numeric character reference of the phonetic character. The field ipa-image is for the name of an image (preferably in .png format) of the phonetic character; do not include the "Image:" prefix or linking brackets. The field xsampa is for the equivalent X-SAMPA character, and kirshenbaum for the equivalent Kirshenbaum character. The field sound is for the name of a sound file (preferably in .ogg format) illustrating the sound; again, do not include the "Image:" prefix or linking brackets.

For example, the infobox for the voiceless bilabial plosive [p] is:
