Template talk:Infobox Athlete

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I made this page, but everytime I write something else on the page, it shows up on the page of the athlete? Please could you say why? Peterwill 17:29, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Usage

{{Infobox Athlete

|datebirth=
|placebirth=
|height=
|weight=
|turnedpro=
|retired=
|pb=
|olympics=
|worlds=
|highestranking=
|updated=
}}

[edit] Optionality

Can someone please make all the fields optional? It pains me to look at a half-empty infobox. Punkmorten 12:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I second that. I'd like to use this infobox, but there are two parameters showing up which are inappropriate ("Personal best" and "Titles"). This should either be tweaked to make it more general, or renamed to make it clear it's specific to certain kinds of athletes (i.e. Olympic/WC competitors). --DeLarge 23:42, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What about death information?

Think someone could add fields for the date and place of death? — Dale Arnett (talk) 16:00, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What is the point

What is the point of this template, what is it meant for? Is it meant for track and field, the only sport for which the word athlete is/should be used in Wikipedia? Don't think so: "turned pro"? "World Finals" What is this, exactly? Punkmorten (talk) 11:02, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
