This infobox is used for any drivers with significant current or recent participations outside Formula One, the WRC, or NASCAR as part of an effort to streamline the range of infobox templates for motorsport articles. It is flexible enough to allow use with other templates for drivers with multi-discipline careers. See WikiProject Motorsport for more templates.

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Date-of-birth ("bday") parameters will only be included in the microformat if {{Birth date}} or {{Birth date and age}} are used in the infobox.
