[edit] How to use this template

Note that there are only two required fields:

1. city=
2. province=

All other fields are optional. If optional fields are not assigned a value then they are not displayed (It might be good to leave these fields in for future changes). However, the name field should be included if the title of the article contains disambiguating information. For example, for Brookfield High School (Ottawa, Ontario), set the name parameter like so:

• if the image= field is shown, the motto= field is shown under the image; otherwise the motto= field is shown between the Area and the Mascot
• motto_translation= appears only if motto= appears
• If there is a street address, the label is Address; otherwise, it is Location

• type= is ignored if fundingtype= is defined
• religious_affiliation= is ignored if affiliation= is defined

For coordinates, use {{coord}} with display=inline,title. Please do not be overly precise.

[edit] Microformat

The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue article across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit.
