[edit] Parameters

Parameter Explanation
name Insert name of astronaut.
image Insert image, preferably at 200px.
width Set (optional) width of image; defaults to: 20em.
caption Insert photograph caption. Try to include date of photo and the photographer.
type' Astronaut, cosmonaut, etc.
date_birth Insert date of birth: month, day, year.
place_birth Insert place of birth: town, city, country.
date_death Insert date of death: month, day, year.
place_death Insert place of death: town, city, country.
occupation Insert the astronaut's other occupations aside from being an astronaut.
current_occupation Insert what the astronaut's current occupation is.
previous_occupation Insert what the astronaut did prior to becoming an astronaut.
rank Insert the astronaut's military rank, if any.
time Insert the amount of time the astronaut has spent in space.
selection Insert when the astronaut was selected to become an astronaut.
mission Insert the mission(s) that the astronaut has been a part of.
insignia Insert (an) image(s) of this astronaut's mission insignia(s).
Date of ret Insert the date that this astronaut retired from service.

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Date-of-birth ("bday") parameters will only be included in the microformat if {{Birth date}} or {{Birth date and age}} are used in the infobox.
