In essence, the trouble is that back then, these territories didn't really have English toponyms. They had toponyms in a number of local or neighbouring languages, and sometimes, these varied wildly. For most of the time, the German toponyms were recorded most prominently in what ended up becoming sources, due to the Baltic German cultural domination, but in the context of discussing Polish administration of Livonia, the Polish toponyms will, obviously, automatically become notable. Another example of strange Polish naming logic. Why Polish Livonia redirects to Inflanty? And what means "these territories didn't really have English toponyms"? This is English WP, not Polish. A name Polish Livonia was used in contrast to Swedish Livonia. In these times English was not so wide used. Authentic maps shows Polish Livonia as Palatinate of Livonia [1] (both Swedish and Polish kings agreed to use title as "Dukes of Livonia" after 1660) or Livonie Polonoise [2] 81.7.98.250 (talk) 11:01, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

The map in the article has many pretty colored parts of the various "provinces" it depicts, but no legend explaining them. This might be helpful to the article's readers. English translations would also be helpful on English WP. Btw, when was this map first published? Anyone know? Is there a possible copyright violation by its inclusion?
